Information that reaches us
- Connection details: the IP address of your connection, an approximate town or state inferred from that address, the browser and operating system named in the user agent, the kind of device and which URLs were loaded.
- What you type in the form: name, email address, chosen topic and message. The form hands everything to your own mail program, so the email itself passes through your provider.
- Your cookie decision: saved locally by your browser.
Purposes
- Hosting, security and abuse prevention (necessary).
- Analytics on which parts of the review people read, if you opt in.
- Marketing and referral matching, so a partner can link a stay to a click here, if you opt in.
- Replying to you and correcting errors you point out.
Retention
Raw logs on the web server: 90 days at most. Summarised analytics: 26 months at most. Emails: for as long as a thread stays open, then two further years at most. The stored cookie decision: 12 months, after which the bar returns.
Australian access and correction
Email privacy@nzsocialplays.com to see or correct what we hold about you. Not satisfied with our answer? A complaint can be lodged with the OAIC — Australia’s national privacy regulator — through oaic.gov.au.
EU visitors (GDPR)
The GDPR lets EU residents inspect the records kept about them, have those rectified or erased, limit how they are processed, move them to another service or object to their use. Consent given for analytics or advertising cookies can be pulled back whenever you choose; processing before that point stays lawful. Those cookies rely on consent, while security and correspondence rely on legitimate interests. If you believe we have fallen short, the data protection regulator where you live will take up the matter.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
A California resident is entitled to a description of the kinds of data this domain holds on them and why, request corrections or erasure, and forbid us from selling it or passing it on for cross-context behavioural advertising. A browser broadcasting GPC is treated as having made that refusal, which keeps advertising cookies off. Using any of these rights brings no penalty or lesser service.
Under-18s
These pages are written for adult travellers and are not aimed at anybody below 18. We do not set out to collect details from minors; should a young person have written in, let us know and we will erase what was sent.
Updates to this notice
A revised notice will carry a new date on this page, and a change that touches consent will bring the cookie bar back.
